GD Sierra Search & Rescue Drone

The Gryphon Dynamic Sierra search and rescue drone is equipped with a quick release payload mount to cater for a wide range of payload sensors from specialist digital zoom camera to dual and triple sensors options. The favoured option is an advanced EO/IR payload, featuring a 4K zoom sensor, a 640 x 512 radiometric thermal camera, and an integrated 2400m laser rangefinder ready for various applications.

The digital EO camera has both optical and digital zoom to allow up to x240 magnification, and 8x time thermal zoom. With the EO/IR sensor having the ability to track object effortlessly and with the precision rangefinder (0.1-0.5m) offers pinpoint accuracy to triangulate the target GPS in flight, essential for conveying the locations of rescue targets.

Multiple camera view modes depending upon the task and time of search, these modes are EO, IR, EO/IR, SYNC and IR/EO.

Dedicated Gimbal Solution

The design of the Sierra imaging sensor is incorporated in the 3 axis gyroscopically stabilised gimbal to minimise weight and size, ultimately maximise the performance of the endurance of the drone to offer the longest SAR flight times.

The gimbal was designed to overcome both wind-induced vibrations, and attitude of the aircraft by adding excellent vibration dampening control. In addition, the gimbal is fitted with a special quick realise mount to allow the sensor to be swapped out, so other accessories such as different cameras to spotlight and speakers can also be used.

Sierra triple sensor

The Sierra SAR drone has been designed around the triple function EO/IR/ & Laser Range finder sensor. 

The 4K EO camera sensor with its rock steady gimbal allow the camera to optically zoom in 30 times, and up to x240 times with digital zoom. Where the radiometric thermal camera (Infra-red) has a resolution of 640x512@60Hz, displayable in a variety of modes dependent upon when and where the thermal sensor is being used which is very important as thermal images is usually the fastest way to detect human or animal activity. Finally the highly accurate rangefinder by using th onboard GPS and triangulating to the target can offer very accurate target location for ground based teams to quickly assemble on the casualty.

Anti-collision sensor

The Sierra SAR drone has an array of anti-collision sensors mounted around the drone protect the airframe when flying in close proximity or in very confined spaces such as mountainous and cliff walls. These sensors detect obstacles in full 360 degrees around the drone but also above, with an option to also add a further sensor below to offer complete omni-direction obstacle detection.
